Corbin Reacts to House Budget Passage
HARRISBURG – Representative Becky Corbin (R-East Brandywine) today issued the following statement in response to the House passing a no tax increase Fiscal Year 2018-19 state budget:

“I’m proud to support a budget that once again increases funding for education, while not raising taxes. This budget is only a 1.7 percent increase over last year, which is below the rate of inflation. In addition, for the first time in more than a decade, we are contributing to the Rainy Day Fund.

“This budget increases basic education funding by $100 million and early childhood education by $25 million. The budget also provides a 3.3 percent increase for the State System of Higher Education and a 3 percent increase for the state-related universities and community colleges. This should result in no tuition increases for our college students.

“Furthermore, we created a new $60 million block grant program to increase security at our K-12 schools. No student should go to school in fear for their well-being. I encourage my school districts to apply for this program that allows schools to meet their individual needs.”

The 155th District consists of the following municipalities: West Brandywine, East Brandywine, Uwchlan, Upper Uwchlan, West Vincent, East Pikeland, Spring City, and part of Phoenixville.
