Corbin Applauds Efforts to Combat Prescription Painkiller Misuse
HARRISBURG – Rep. Becky Corbin (R-Chester) today took part in a bipartisan Capitol news conference to highlight legislation passed out of the House and recommended by the Task Force and Advisory Committee on Opioid Prescription Drug Proliferation. Additionally, she joined legislative leaders in calling for a September special session to address the growing public health crisis posed by prescription drug and heroin misuse.

Following the news conference, Corbin issued the following statement:

“While we’ve made progress, much more needs to be done.  Drug overdoses now outrank car accidents as the leading cause of accidental death in the Commonwealth.  One of the most important steps Pennsylvanians can take to combat drug addiction is to properly dispose of unused or expired prescription painkillers.  Without proper medical supervision, almost anyone can become addicted – people we might never suspect.    If an addicted person visits your home, it’s possible she or he will find any painkillers stored on the premises, especially if they are older medications you likely wouldn’t notice were missing. “

Please find out where you can dispose of these excess drugs by visiting my website,, and clicking ‘Drug Addiction Prevention and Recovery.”
