Corbin Comments on Package of Bills Designed to Combat Opioid Addiction - 11/18/2015
A package of legislation aimed at dealing with a broad range of problems brought about by the abuse of prescription opioid medications in Pennsylvania was recently introduced in Harrisburg. The bills are a result of a legislative task force review of the widespread use of opioid drugs and the actions being taken by law enforcement, healthcare organizations, and addiction service providers. Rep. Becky Corbin (R-Chester) said heroin addiction is an equal opportunity offender that stems from prescription drug abuse.
Corbin Introduces Bill to Make Strangulation a Felony Offense - 10/28/2015
Legislation designed to close a loophole that currently allows many domestic abusers to escape prosecution has been introduced in Harrisburg. House Bill 1581 would give law enforcement a tool to prosecute criminals who strangle their victims, regardless of whether the victim suffered visible physical injuries. Rep. Becky Corbin (R-Chester), prime sponsor of the legislation, said her bill will help crack down on many cases of domestic violence that would otherwise fall to the wayside due to a lack of physical evidence.
Rep. Corbin Opposes Increased Taxation and Spending in Governor's Budget Proposal - 4/13/2015
Members of the Chester County delegation of the Pennsylvania House recently voiced their opposition to the proposed tax hikes and spending increases included in Gov. Wolf’s budget proposal. Wolf’s plan would increase state spending by nearly 5 billion dollars, supported by a higher personal income tax, and an augmented sales tax rate including an expansion of taxable goods and services. It is estimated that the Governor’s proposal would result in a 177 million dollar increase for the taxpayers of Chester County.
Rep. Corbin Comments on House Passage of Liquor Privatization Legislation - 3/22/2013
Legislation that would get the Commonwealth out of the business of selling wine and liquor was passed by the Pennsylvania House on Thursday. Rep. Becky Corbin (R-Chester), said that state government has no place in the liquor business, and that lawmakers can now focus on fundamental government issues. Rep. Becky Corbin Takes Oath as New Member of the Pennsylvania House from Chester County - 1/1/2013
Newly elected members of the Pennsylvania General Assembly met for a rare New Year's Day session in the state capitol to take the oath of office and get a start on reorganizing the state’s legislative branch. This is the first time in 22 years lawmakers have been sworn in on the holiday, as the state constitution requires the event take place on the first Tuesday of a new legislative session. Rep.
